Even though I was still cooking/cleaning/reading/gardening, boredom was taking over. I wanted to do something that will break down the entire routine. May be a hobby……...!?!? (Hmm, you may feel gardening and reading are hobbies, sort of…… For me they were not enough. Gardening becomes a chore when you are cleaning your yard regularly)
A hobby that will keep me busy and add another dimension to my daily life. Something new and fresh.
I thought about numerous things that I could have had liked to move forward with. One thing I was sure about that it must be something creative. I was always drawn towards doing crafts when I was a child. May be influence came from my mother. She was quite crafty. She was an excellent cook, knitter, painter. She used to do a great deal of knitting, needlework, fabric painting. I could have learned so much from her but at that stage of my life I had to finish my education. I did dabble with doing creative projects when ever I could. Then she lost her battle with cancer. It was the toughest time of my life:((
So, desperate to learn something new, I tried knitting, crocheting. It did not spark the joy I was looking for. Back to square one…. LOL!!!! Almost 6 months passed by, and I still could not figure it out.
Then one dull evening, I found out that this lovely lady near my house runs fluid art classes. At that point, I had no clue about fluid art. It was something of which I have never heard. It intrigued me. I thought, lets attend the class, with the possibility of learning something / experiencing something new. At least I will spend a lovely evening with a group of people I have never met before.
I was so excited about the class. Like a little child in a candy store. I was excited to work with paint and assorted colors touched my senses. I was so relaxed and simply enjoying the process of colorful acrylic paints on canvas. How the paint moved on the canvas and evolved into something abstract artwork. I was amused by the color combinations, and their mixing. There was no right or wrong. Simply creativity …!!!!!
Thanks to our lovely teacher, who was excellent instructor. She created this class with complete freedom for all artists/students to express their version of abstract art. One direction and several distinct types of artworks were created. Each one unique on it own. I came back home, with fully satisfied creativity hunger and somewhat excited, deep down, to keep on working with fluid art on my own. And thus, my journey to become an artist was initiated….
To be continued….
